The AEA-Europe Council consists of seven people: the President, Vice President, Executive Secretary, Treasurer (The Officers) and three other members (Non-Officers). Council members are elected by the members of the Association and appointed at the annual General Assembly.

Steven Bakker took up his position as the President of AEA-Europe in November 2010 after an election earlier in the year. At the same time Kathleen Tattersall assumed her position as Vice President and Sarah Maughan took up her position as Executive Secretary.

Under the revised constitution, the Vice President will serve for two years (2011–12) and then become President for the following two years (2013–14).

The Council as of November 2011 is as follows:
